BACKGROUND ON IMPACT AND REACH

IMPACT Initiatives is a humanitarian NGO, based in Geneva, Switzerland. The organisation manages several initiatives, including the REACH Initiative. The IMPACT team comprises specialists in data collection, management and analysis, GIS and remote sensing. IMPACT was launched at the initiative of ACTED, an international NGO with headquarters based in Paris and presence in thirty countries. The two organizations have a strong complementarity formalized in a global partnership, which allows IMPACT to benefit from ACTED’s operational support in its fields of intervention.

We are currently looking for an Assessment Specialist to support our team in Geneva / Flexible

Contract duration: 3 months

POSITION PROFILE

Under the line management of the IMPACT Displacement and Climate Specialist, Assessment Specialist is responsible for the implementation of key activities in support of the Global CCCM Cluster.

The Global CCCM Cluster is aiming to develop a questions bank for supporting the in-country site monitoring activities and fostering a common approach to site monitoring across the different country clusters and CCCM stakeholders.

This position requires strong research skills, strong experience in CCCM, an analytical mind, independence and external engagement skills.

Missions

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assessment Specialist responsibilities will:

 

  • Conduct a secondary desk review of the existing approach to site monitoring

  • Develop a question bank for site monitoring that would include the key dimensions based on CCCM Minimum Standard Handbook

  • The question bank should include dimensions, indicators, questions to collect the data,

  • Develop a methodological note that could guide CCCM practitioners when starting a site monitoring exercise

  • Consult a number of sectoral stakeholders to seek inputs on sectoral indicators / questions

  • If time allows, conduct a webinar to present the question bank and methodological note

 

The Assessment Specialist will maintain the strictest confidentiality on all information accessed and internal processes. They will actively take measures to prevent the unauthorized sharing of any information and data belonging to IMPACT and its partners, or collected during his/her assignment with IMPACT.

Profil

REQUIREMENTS

  • Years of work experience 3 years of relevant working experience in a humanitarian setting, such as assessments, monitoring and evaluation, research design and analysis, etc.;

  • Research skills Excellent quantitative and qualitative research data analysis experience required;

  • Familiarity with aid system Good understanding of the aid system and the research community. Prior experience with humanitarian coordination forums preferred;

  • Thematic experience Prior experience with CCCM is required;

  • Communication/reporting skills Excellent verbal and written communication and drafting skills for effective reporting required;

  • Academic qualifications Excellent academic qualifications, including a master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g. international studies, development, humanitarian response, data science, political science, etc.);

  • Software skills Proven knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Language skills Fluency in English required

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

 

  • For this position, gross salary between 5’800 CHF and 5’957 CHF monthly (before income tax). NB - IMPACT salaries are strictly determined by our salary grid depending on the grade of the position and the level of education and experience of staff. A contribution to medical insurance of 489 CHF per month is already included in the salary figure.

  • Insurance covering professional and non-professional accidents throughout the period of employment with IMPACT

  • Health insurance, life insurance and repatriation assistance in case of field visits/temporary deployments

  • Enrolment in IMPACT Initiatives Research Foundational Learning Programme within the first 3 months from the start of contract.

  • Applicants must hold a valid work permit for Switzerland or be EU/EFTA citizens

  • Up to 40% of remote work on a weekly basis.
