Translator FR - EN

    Description

    Company background

Following its successful transition to a daily publication in April 2020, Africa Intelligence now has a team of around 20 journalists who chronicle the political, diplomatic and economic life of the continent in French and English. We work hard to identify the players in these three areas who wield power and influence behind the scenes, and seek to report accurately on their networks and connections.

Our editorial success is based on strong values shared by the entire company: uncompromising investigation and intellectual rigour.

Africa Intelligence is published by Indigo Publications, an independent press group set up by investigative journalists in Paris in 1981.

To guarantee our financial and political independence, Indigo Publications relies solely on income from our readers.

    Mission

Africa Intelligence is looking for a journalist/translator to work on its English editions.

Reporting to the deputy editor-in-chief, you will be responsible for translating articles from French into English, and will oversee the publication of two daily editions per week, editing all copy and incorporating last-minute changes before going to press.

You will guarantee the quality of our English-language editions, ensuring fluid copy and punchy headlines. As well as making suggestions on how to improve the editing of our articles, you will be responsible for making sure our news and headlines look their best on our website.

Finally, you will keep an eye on the daily copy flow, and organise and send out translations to our freelance translators.

    Profil

A native English speaker, you have a good knowledge of international news and excellent editing skills. You will have at least five years' experience as a translator for a news publication. You have a passion for journalism and the written press, and are also generally knowledgeable of current affairs on the African continent.

You have excellent organisational skills and are proactive. You enjoy working as part of a team and are also comfortable working in a high-pressure, newsroom environment.
