Missions

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Act as technical reference on HVDC, FACTS and grid integration projects, from feasibility studies through to commissioning support.

  • Lead study packages: define the technical approach, the modelling assumptions and the validation strategy.

  • Perform and review advanced power system studies (EMT, harmonic, dynamic stability, control interaction) for HVDC and FACTS applications.

  • Review and challenge vendor models, control designs and functional specifications, and contribute to the specification of HVDC/FACTS equipment.

  • Drive technical discussions with clients, TSOs, partners and vendors, ensuring high-quality engineering outcomes.

  • Mentor engineers, review their work and contribute to the development of team know-how and methodologies.

  • Provide technical input to proposals and tenders, and support the positioning of the company in the HVDC market.

Activities

  • Model transmission grids and simulate complex electrical phenomena using electromagnetic transient (EMT) and real-time simulation tools.

  • Analyse the dynamic behaviour of AC/DC converters, including interaction with control and protection systems.

  • Provide strategic technical advice on HVDC integration challenges, including interoperability and interaction phenomena in multi-vendor and multi-terminal schemes.

  • Lead or contribute to real-time simulation and factory acceptance test campaigns using control replica systems.

  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, working groups and client workshops to strengthen market visibility.

  • Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams (engineering, commercial) to secure technical quality and client satisfaction.

Conditions of employment

  • Position based at our specialized engineering centre in Lyon/Jonage (69), France.

  • International travel required for client meetings, project execution and test campaigns.

  • Hybrid between technical leadership on projects and client-facing / business development support.

  • Competitive compensation package reflecting seniority and expertise

Experience and know-how:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in the power systems industry, with a strong focus on HVDC, FACTS or other power-electronic based transmission technologies.

  • Proven expertise in power system modelling and simulation, particularly using EMT tools (e.g. PSCAD, EMTP, RTDS).

  • Solid understanding of converter control and protection strategies, interaction phenomena and system integration challenges.

  • Experience conducting and reviewing network studies (harmonic, transient stability, EMT) for grid connection of HVDC/FACTS or large renewable plants.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a study package, set the assumptions and defend the results in front of clients and third-party reviewers.

  • Familiarity with project management principles and the execution of complex, multi-stakeholder power infrastructure projects.
