INTERNSHIP ENGINEER R&D - Automation of multirun EMT simulations W/M
Description
Established in 2014, SuperGrid Institute is an independent private company with over 150 employees of 21 different nationalities. The institute is a key player for energy transition in France and throughout Europe, specialising in innovative high and medium voltage direct current (HVDC and MVDC) power systems. SuperGrid Institute also develops new technologies for the integration of renewable energies into the electricity networks of the future.
SuperGrid Institute has been ranked every year since 2018, reaching the podium 3 times in the INPI prize list.

General Context
The intern will join the architecture and systems research department where ElectroMagnetic Transient (EMT) simulation constitutes an important part of our research studies. In the research field of high voltage transmission grid, simulation tools, like EMTP-RV®, are used to simulate critical situations, such as faults, and investigate possible solutions. These studies require a high number of simulations, hence high computing times. At the research department of architecture and systems, some algorithms were developed to launch a batch of simulations and to ease the analysis of the obtained results. In the proposed internship, we would like to gather all these algorithms in a single one which is able to cover and anticipate different needs of engineers regarding simulation automation (simple batch and embedded parameters modification decision for the next simulation, based on the previous simulation results) and results post-processing. The proposed tool must be flexible enough to evolve in the future and must be coded in a license-free language (Python for example). We would like to obtain a user-friendly tool, with the appropriate documentation and tutorials.
Avantages
- Remboursement des transport à 50%
Mission
Missions
· The intern will follow trainings on EMTP-rv and GitLab to gain hand on experience with these two software.
· Gather and understand engineers’ needs for simulation automation and post-processing tool in the HVDC architecture and systems department.
· Propose an architecture for the tool in line with engineer needs and software constraints.
· Develop and test of the proposed tool.
· Write the appropriate documentation and eventually a tutorial, if needed.
· Communicate about the tool within the HVDC architecture and systems teammates.
