INTERNSHIP ENGINEER R&D - Python Automation to perform contingency analysis of MTDC grids interconnected into AC areas modelled in Power Factory W/M
Description
Established in 2014, SuperGrid Institute is an independent private company with over 150 employees of 21 different nationalities. The institute is a key player for energy transition in France and throughout Europe, specialising in innovative high and medium voltage direct current (HVDC and MVDC) power systems. SuperGrid Institute also develops new technologies for the integration of renewable energies into the electricity networks of the future.
SuperGrid Institute has been ranked every year since 2018, reaching the podium 3 times in the INPI prize list.

General Context
The objective of the internship is to develop python scripts to automatize the contingency studies of MTDC grids interconnected into AC areas modelled in Power Factory application. The simulation models have several parameters and configuration that requires to be selected and activated before running the simulation studies. Therefore, the intern is going to develop commands to properly set the selected configuration for each round of simulation according to the given system architectures. In addition, the contingency analysis also requires the selection of the equipment to suffer the faults, the placement of the fault inception, and the cascading events to be considered in the analysis. Therefore, the automation of the cascading events is going to be carried out to be performed in the power factory environment. Last, automation of the inputs from OPF tools to be provided as inputs for power factory simulations are going to be developed in order to obtain the results of the contingency analysis.
