General Context

The intern will join the architecture and systems research department. More precisely, the proposed internship is a part of development framework of a new Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) simulation library dedicated to HVDC equipment e.g. HVDC converters, DCCBs, cables/overhead lines, lightning arresters, earthing, simplified AC/DC network ...

The aim of this library is to consolidate and simplify existing EMT models that were developed in the “architecture and systems” research department to facilitate their use among department members. The internship permits also to harmonize some EMT simulation models, to write descriptions for these “user guide” models and to ensure that they are working properly. During the internship, the candidate will be in contact with department members in order to understand available models. In addition, a draft version “template” will be available for the intern, so he can start the work in best conditions.

·        The intern will follow trainings on EMTP-rv and GitLab to gain hand on experience with these two software.

·        State of the art for EMT models available in architecture and systems research department

·        Understand EMT models ensures that they are working properly.

·        Prepare user guides for each EMT model.

·        Propose solutions to manage model versions.

·        Organize follow-up meetings to communicate the internship progress.

Profil

Candidate Profile

·        Master or engineering school (4th or 5th year)

·        Solid knowledge around power systems

·        Experience on EMT simulation would be appreciated.

Soft skills

·        Good level in English
