Missions
Job description
The VP of Engineering will report to our Chief Technology Officer (CTO) or directly to the Chief Executive Officer depending on the profile, and will be a full member of the Executive Committee. He/She will be responsible for the management of the development team (Dev.). His/her focus will be on ensuring the execution of the product roadmap while also overviewing IT client support. Accordingly, the main tasks of the VP of E. can be broken down into the following four objectives :
1. Development - Ensure roadmap execution,
- Negotiate delivery time and bring previsibility
- Ensure good quality : performance / simplicity / legibility / test coverage / modularity / documentation / technical debt control
- Manage the tradeoff between speed and quality
- Assign or delegate assignment, follow and report tickets (bug / small dev)
- Assign or delegate assignment, follow and report large developments
2. Professional service (opensee is an on premise and/or multi cloud solution) - Make clients happy without ruining dev spirit,
- Track billable times and evaluate actions’ relevance for the client
- Organise the burden sharing between developers
- Leverage developers’ time spent at clients to improve the product
3. Management - Reinforce the team to achieve objectives 1 and 2,
- Help Tech Leads grow in their role
- Bring new developper up to speed
- Develop talents
- Develop indicators for managing engineering
- Ensure good spirit : responsibility / fun / smart
- Administrative management (day offs …)
- Identify recruitment needs
4. Organisation - Built the long term,
- Create the conditions for the teams you manage to give their best (purpose, organization, training, etc.)
- Take part in defining and maintaining the roadmap
- Ensure smooth and constructive relations between product owners and Devs
- Be decisive in the in-progress reorganization of the dev team
- Organise mid 2021 the 24/5 technical support with NY/Singapour offices and/or remote workers
Eventually, the VP of Eng. will support the CTO who is tasked with the following:
- Technical vision
- Head of architecture committee (lead devs)
- Co-Responsibility of the product roadmap with the CPO
- Recruiting
- Product extension, POC
- Client representation
- Supervise client implementation
- Technical interface to shareholders
- Responsible for security

Profil
About you
Interest: You are passionate about managing developers. You have first hand experiences with dev methodology (agile/craft) and have grown your own vision about it.
Qualities: You are a team player, proactive and know how to contribute and make an impact. You have natural leadership and inspire people by your human and technical skills.
Prior experience: You have been holding a similar senior engineering management position for at least three years in start-up or scale-up environments.
Curriculum: You hold a Bachelor's degree in computer science
Technical skills: Enough dev experience to talk with the devs, strong project management skills, developpement management tools. You have a strong product orientation, without being a product manager.
Linguistic skills: Fluent in English both written and verbal, French is a plus
